Lives in Lyon, France and works between France and Algeria.

Karim Kal used to take the RER D line from Grigny to Corbeil-Essonne, representing areas both familiar and upsetting. In the sharp contrast between black and white we see the accumulating tension between the collective and private spaces , between that which is planned and how it is used, between authority and transgression.
