A slew of buildings and assorted infrastructure comes together to build the metropolitan area, which seems to be expanding constantly. In the new construction sites there are little havens of stability, zones in transition, under construction, shaping the horizons of a city in metamorphosis. Photographers focus on certain of these emblematic locations, observing their contours, lines and uses, retracing their stories and mutations, even imagining possibilities in the future. Airports, a shopping mall, spaces called “peripheral” because of their locations near the Paris ring road, a leisure area, the banks of a canal, a housing project, woods and war memorials become witnesses to the development of a city and how each place tells its own story. Encountering the people travelling through them, living in them or find themselves visiting, the artists create unique, moving portraits.
